Andro Critics “La sainte Courtisane” By Oscar Wilde.
After Reading the script honest that I am confused and curious about the contents of this drama story. Unfortunately, the story was not finished and will not even be completed by the author. The author in this story is named Oscar Wilde. He was born in Dublin, Ireland. he was a playwright. when he wrote the drama about "La Saint Courtisane" he was in prison and served a sentence of forced labor for 2 years because of a homosexual case. The author died at the age of 46 due to inflammation of the lining of the brain. so the drama script was not finished.
In this script the author describe the characters in the story which is called andro. start from first character Myrrhina,
MYRRHINA: Dwells he not here, the beautiful young hermit, he who will not look on the face of woman?
FIRST MAN : Of a truth it is here the hermit dwells.
MYRRHINA : Why will he not look on the face of woman?
SECOND MAN : We do not know.
MYRRHINA : Why do ye yourselves not look at me?
MYRRHINA : Tell me more about the beautiful young hermit. Talk to me About the beautiful young hermit who will not look on the Face of woman. What is the story of his days? What mode of Life has he?
The author describes the figure of the character myrrhina who is a teaser. in general, a woman is depicted by a shy character and does not dare to tease, so the author describes the cross. In my opinion the author makes the character Myrrhina with good looking and teasing. in general, a man sees the appearance of a beautiful woman he avoids because according to him it is difficult to get his heart let alone the woman from nobility. therefore the author describes the character Myrrhina is a teaser.
And then the author describe the character of first man and second man.
FIRST MAN : Of old a centaur lived there. When the hermit came the
centaur gave a shrill cry, wept and lamented, and galloped away.
SECOND MAN : No. It was a white unicorn who lived in the cave. When it saw the hermit coming the unicorn knelt down and worshipped him. Many people saw it worshipping him.
FIRST MAN : I have talked with people who saw it.
SECOND MAN : Some say he was a hewer of wood and worked for hire. But that may not be true.
Now, the author describe the character of man that likes to find out about other people. In general, a man who ignores and don’t worry about people’s business. So this character is cross from the general man. Usually a woman that like kepo with other people’s business.
And then the last character from the script is Honorius and also the author describe this character.
The beauty of the soul increases until it can see God. Therefore, Myrrhina, repent of thy sins.
Let me taste of the seven sins.
You can see that the author describe the character honorius even a man who is close to God cannot fight lust. And in my opinion the author describes the character in general as a man.
The issue raised from this story is that a sinner, teasing someone can even change it. but on the other hand the hermit cannot hold his own lusts so that he sins.
